There is a list of know demons and types.

1. Fire Demon - resides in our upper atmosphere and supervise the other five demons.
2. Aerial Demon - Live in the air, considered the most dangerous.
3. Terrestrial Demon - Nature devil, they live in the forest.
4. Aqueous Demon - Live in lakes, oceans, rivers.
5. Subterranean Demon - Cave Dweller
6. Heliophobic Demon - Has a fear of light, possibly where the vampire legends came from.

In order for a possession to take place, the person must submit themselves to it (give permission). A person in direct line of offspring may also submit their direct descendent. Mother or Father offering their child.

In most cases, Satanic or cult rituals were used by the person or parents/grandparents or on the property. The activity surrounds the person, not the property. It is directly feeding from them and their energy.

The ultimate goal for a demon is to gain shape or form: ie possession. Unfortunately they feed from the person’s energy and eventually use all of it up, resulting in the person’s death. They feed from pure hate, not just negative energy, pure hate.

When it comes to deciphering the difference between a malevolent spirit and a Demonic spirit the client interviews and property inspection should give an investigator a clue as to what they are dealing with before doing the investigation. If you feel that it could be a malevolent spirit or worse, don’t be afraid to ask questions and inspect the whole property. Would you jump into a body of water from 20 feet high without knowing how deep it was or if their were any objects in it?

Cases

There has been two different cases that CPS has had some involvement in.

• One was in NJ. This case involved a woman and her partner who separated after years of physical fighting and arguing. When the new partner moved in with this woman, unknown physical assaults starting taking place upon her. There was information from the woman that her and her original partner did in fact use a Ouija board on several occasions and had a pentagram painted on the floor in the home. CPS is still helping this couple and it is on going. Is it a demon? ... Could be!
• The other case came to CPS from California. A woman’s boyfriend has been being attacked and physically assaulted almost on a daily basis. At first she thought he was lying and doing it to himself for attention. Through further questioning and certain steps CPS told her to do and try, we were able to ascertain that he was NOT doing this to himself. Video evidence of him sitting in a chair watching TV actually showed live on video cut marks appearing on him and him feeling them happening during an argument with her. This was referred to a known and reputable demonologist.

So do you need a Demonologist with you to do an investigation? If you have a case that you feel may in fact be of a Demonic nature and you have little or NO experience in doing this type of investigation, why put yourself or others in your group in that type of situation. Most people who think they have a demon problem are actually WACK-O... Not mentally stable. You don’t want to have to deal with or get into this type of situation. In order to have an exorcism performed there are a lot of stringent psychological evaluations that have to take place with the client and their family. Background checks for not just the family but also the grandparents and friends, also full blown out property inspections. It takes years and a boat load of evidence in order for the church to even look at the case. When the sanction of performing an exorcism is granted, it doesn’t happen like in the movies. Most exorcisms take a long time to do. It is repeated again and again till the demon is finally exhausted. This can actually take months or years and each time is physically and mentally exhausting for the exorcism team.

What is a demonologist?

Someone that study’s and catalogs demons.

• A Demonologist studies every kind of recorded demon through history. The demonologist must go threw endless texts and sometimes travel great distances to find literature (mostly religious material) of human intervention with demons.
• When you encounter a demon you must know as much about it for the next time you either encounter it or come across it.
• Cataloging includes origin, gender, ethnic background, what religion it exists in, what geographical area in the world it mostly exists, sketches. Cataloging is the most important job of a demonologist because it differentiates all the demons.
• A demonologist knows how to bring a demon out, he knows how to speak to the demon.
• To become an approved demonologist you must be some kind of clergy.

Exorcism is mainly the rite of driving out demons from possessed persons. Exorcism is mainly performed for demonic possession which is totally different spiritual possession. The Roman Catholic Church and some Protestant denominations such as the Pentecostals practice exorcisms. The Protestant churches refer to the practice as "deliverance ministry" where gifted people drive out demons and heal while they touch the person’s with their hands, called laying on of hands, and pray over them.

Technically, exorcism is placing the demon on oath or invoking a higher authority to bind the entity in order to control it and command it to act contrary to its own will. In some incidences there may be more than one demon possessing a person.

In the Christian sense this higher authority is Jesus Christ. This act is based on the belief that the demons are afraid of Christ. The belief itself is based on scripture. Coming from the sea of Galilee Christ entered the land of the Gerasenes. He was immediately met by a man from the tombs cut into the mountains of the area. The man was said to be possessed of an unclean spirit. Nothing could bind this man, not even chains. He lived in the mountains, crying, and cutting himself with stones. But, so it is told, when seeing Christ approaching, the man went to him seeking help. The unclean demon immediately recognized Christ, and Christ recognized the demon. Christ, then, summoned the spirit to leave the man, and asked his name. "My name is Legion," answered the spirit, "for we are many." Once the demons left the man, Christ sent them into a nearby heard of swine who then jumped in to the sea and drown. (Mark 5:1-13) Unlike other exorcists, it is believed, that Christ did not exorcise because He did not need to call on a higher authority since He Himself was that higher authority.

Now, not only did Christ exorcise demons, or unclean spirits, but he gave the powers to his disciples.

The Catholic Church has a procedure out-lined rite of exorcism which is set forth in The Rituale Romanum.

During the ritual usually salt, representing purity, and wine, representing the blood of Christ, is present. The victim is to hold a crucifix during the rite. The exorcist is encouraged to use holy water and relics, usually pieces of bones from Saints, and recite Biblical scriptures and other prayers.

The greatest danger to the exorcist is becoming possessed by the demon himself. This is the reason why the exorcist must feel as free of sin as possible and feel no secret need for punishment. Otherwise, the demon can easily entrap him. The priest best suited to be an exorcist as being a man of good physical health, being of middle age, routinely going about his normal pastoral duties. He usually is not brilliant or engaged in teaching or research. Although, there are exceptions. Exorcisms usually take place in a location where there is a definite connection between the demon and the victim. ie victims bedroom or residence. Exorcists rarely choose to work alone. Three other people usually assist the exorcist. One is a junior priest who has been trained in exorcism procedures. He monitors the exorcism, helping the exorcist when possible not to be distracted by the possessive demon. Others can include a medical physician and a family member. The most important thing of all is that the exorcist and his assistants be physically strong and relatively guiltless. None must have any secret sins which the demon can use against them. In some incidences the demon may shout out the sins of the exorcist or his assistants attempting to shame them and ruin the exorcism.

Although all exorcisms are different in proceeding there are similar stages they follow:

• The Presence: The exorcist and his assistants become aware of an alien feeling or entity. Attempts or actions of the evil spirit appear to be the victim’s. The exorcist’s first job is to break this Pretense and find out whom the demon really is. Gaining the entity’s name is most important.
• Breakpoint: The moment when the demon’s Pretense finally collapses. This is usually a moment of complete pandemonium. There evolves a scene of panic and confusion, accompanied by a crescendo of abuse, horrible sights, noises, and odors. The demon then turns on the victim, speaking of the person in the third person.
• The Voice: Also a sign the Breakpoint, the Voice (of the demon) becomes "inordinately disturbing and humanly distressing babble." The demon’s voices must be silenced for the exorcism to proceed.
• The Clash: As the Voices die out there is both a spiritual and physical pressure. The demon has collided with the "will of the Kingdom." The exorcist is now in direct battle with the demon, urging the entity to reveal more information about itself so it can be controlled. As previously mentioned, there is a connection between the entity and the victim’s resident. The entity wants a place to be in, or it must return to Hell. An existence out of Hell is what the demon is fighting for.
• Expulsion: In the supreme triumph of God’s will, the demon leaves in the name of Jesus. All present feel the Presence dissipates, occasionally with receding noises and voices. The victim may remember the ordeal or may not recall anything that has happened.

The ritual of exorcism is more cautiously employed by the Catholic Church at present than it once was. When reviewing the conditions for demonic possession that were once listed one can easily see many of the symptoms are those of epilepsy, hysteria, schizophrenia, and other psychological disorders. So priests are cautioned to be as certain as possible the person is truly demonically possessed before performing the ritual.

The typical Hindu exorcism practices consist of blowing cow-dung smoke, pressing rock salt between the fingers, burning pig excreta, beating or pulling the victim’s hair, reciting prayers or mantras, and offering gifts of candy and other presents to get the evil or troublesome spirits to depart from the persons.

The ritual employed in Shamanism is that the shaman enters a trace during which he attempts to discover the cause of the victim’s trouble. Frequently the cause is thought linked to a dead person. The shaman then is said to travel to the lowerworld to speak with this soul. He then knows the cure of this victim’s affliction, or may even bring back the soul to cure it.

Q: Are Ouija boards really dangerous?

A: It is not the Ouija board itself which is dangerous. The potential danger stems from the fact that by using a Ouija board to communicate with spirits (or any similar divination device), an individual is opening up his or her free will, thereby leaving oneself vulnerable to an invading spirit presence. There are a great many examples of individuals successfully contacting what at first appear to be "nice" spirits through the use of o Ouija board...only to have these spirits turn on them once they have gained a foothold. Demons can be very adept at masquerading as departed loved ones, even going so far as to reveal hidden knowledge, which was supposedly known only to the deceased...and this hidden information will often eventually prove to be verifiable. However, once demonic spirits have gained someone's trust, they will then cleverly begin mixing lies with the truth, in an effort to confuse. Some individuals eventually become emotionally dependant upon these "spirit friends"...and a demonic presence will have no reservations about using a person's loneliness or emotional vulnerabilities to gain a stronger foothold. By the time it is too late, and a hostile entity has revealed it's true colors, the person who has unwittingly been communicating with these types of spirits will often find that they are much harder to get rid of, than they were to bring in. Also, under no circumstances should anyone ask a spirit to manifest itself (appear) to them through the use of a Ouija board...since a demonic spirit will consider this an open invitation to infiltrate that person's life!

Q: How true to life are the events portrayed in "The Exorcist"?

A: "The Exorcist", written by William Peter Blattey, is based upon an actual case of demonic possession, and the subsequent exorcism, of a fourteen-year-old boy, which took place in the U.S. in 1949. Some of the events are documented as having actually occurred, such as writing appearing on the boy's flesh, and his ability (while under possession) of speaking in foreign languages. In the actual case, the exorcism eventually proved successful, and the boy went on to live a normal, healthy life. None of the priests involved actually died as the result of the exorcism, or became possessed themselves, although one priest did suffer a broken nose. Some of the more bizarre phenomena portrayed in both the book and the movie never actually happened, such as the head spinning and the "spider walk". Some of the events portrayed in "The Exorcist", however, when taken in context, are actually supposed to be telepathically projected into the minds of certain characters.
One thing I should mention about "The Exorcist" which happens to be very true to life, is that these types of parasitic, hostile entities are often initially and inadvertently "invited" in to begin oppressing certain individuals, through the use of a Ouija board.

Q: What exactly are Demons?

A: In the Judeo/Christian belief, demons are "fallen angels" who conspired against the Heavenly Kingdom under the leadership of Satan, were defeated by the Archangel Michael and the holy angels, and were cast out of the Heavenly Realm...banished to roam the earth and the earthly heavens. Although we know very little about this terrible incident, it is assumed to have taken place long before recorded human history. Demons, like Satan and like their angelic counterparts, are inhuman spirit beings, never having been human...NOT the damned souls of evil humans.

Q: Are Demons the same as “Ghosts"?

A: Ultimately, no. Whereas a ghost is generally considered to be the disembodied spirit essence of a deceased person (or animal, in some cases), a demon was never physically alive, in the way in which we are familiar with life. Because demons are spirit beings, and sometimes function in similar ways - even sometimes intentionally masquerading as ghosts - they are often mistaken as being ghosts. However, there is actually quite a difference between the two, both in character and abilities.

Q: Can Demons materialize themselves as humans or animals?

A: Yes, although their ability to do so seems limited. Also, seemingly as a rule, even on the rare occasions where they manifest themselves in photographs, they are never "complete"...that is to say, either a body part is missing (eyes, legs, or the entire head, etc.), or they are disfigured in some noticeable way. Perhaps this is God's cosmic law at work, commanding that they must in some way display that they are not of human origin.

Q: Can demons actually possess dolls and statues?

A: Although demons do not technically "possess" inanimate objects such as dolls and statues, they will sometimes attach or link themselves to certain objects. Although there are a variety of reasons for this, the most obvious cause would be if a doll or a statue has been "personified," or given recognition as an object of profane worship, or used in a ceremonial practice in which demonic entities were invoked. (Two Scriptural references which specifically refer to this as the worship of idols are: 1) Revelation 9:20, and 2) 1 Corinthians 10:20.) Incidentally, demonic attachments to inanimate objects are not limited to dolls and statues. In fact, I once knew someone who, as a young boy of about five years old, picked up a glove which had been left in a cemetery...and a demonic entity instantly began harassing him! The vehicle in which screen idol Jimmy Dean was killed in is another example. Also, it almost goes without saying that the most common inanimate object to which a demonic entity will attach itself is the infamous Ouija board.

Another cause of demonic entities having attached themselves to inanimate objects such as dolls or statues, is if someone who was demon possessed or severely oppressed, has owned or venerated this particular object.
Of course, there is no reason to go through your house searching out every inanimate object which you've ever felt slightly unnerved about. However, if you do seriously feel there is something unnatural about an abject in your possession...be it a doll, statue, Ouija board or what have you...it might just be a good idea to look up the history of this object, if possible. For information pertaining to the disposal of such an object, you may wish to contact a member of the clergy of your particular faith, or perhaps a reputable paranormal research organization.

Demonology 101 Part III

In Parts I and II we touched on a few explanations offered for the existence of those spirit entities categorized as demons, as well as outlined the characteristics they manifest, and some basic methods of dealing with the inconvenience of their presence. I would like to continue with further speculation on their origins and nature, in an effort to establish a working theorem regarding this area of study.

What factors initially spawned them, we cannot for certain say, and it follows our rigid concept of lineal time, with absolute beginning and endings, does not wholly govern the less substantial realm of spirit. Perhaps a demon could be described as an energy displacement, a sort of poltergeist in which a consciousness has evolved. It exists (yet doesn't in a purely physical sense), it knows there are other entities like unto itself, and it senses the living beings (us) moving in a dimensional plane apart from their own. But why, then, should they resent us? Well, maybe not all are resentful, and we just notice the ones that are.

It is conceivable that a demon, never having been embodied, might envy the humanity, which it can never experience: the physical sensations, the interaction, the companionship, the hopes and aspirations.

Opportunities for a demon to enter our world and wreak its havoc - that is, in overt, obvious ways - must be limited. Evidence would seem to support the notion that it must first be invited in, though even a subtle invitation can suffice. Once the demon has an "in," it will feed upon the energies expelled by negative emotions such as anxiety, fear and anger, especially those directed at itself.

The state of mind conducive to expelling a demonic presence is a resolute dedication to purpose and a sense of unity on the part of those who confront this nightmarish force.

Denizens of the "Demonic Realm" - are they invariably of non-human origin, or can the human psyche generate such a negativity that a soul can somehow degenerate into the form of that which we name a demon? It has even been conjectured that demonic "thought forms" could, under extraordinary conditions, be created by a human being and take on a sort of "life" or "lives" of their own. And some contend that they are fallen angels.

This is all speculative; what is certain (that is, what experience has borne out) is that in some dimensional reality apart from our own, there exist seething, resentful, debased entities which occasionally make their way into the living world, seeking human subjects to prey upon and torment.

At times these shadow creatures appear attracted to a particular person or locale, and are inexplicably "just there." In other instances, someone has inadvertently opened a psychic porthole, or chasm, to their netherworld and allowed them access, perhaps by means of a séance or Ouija board use, sometimes through reckless magical conjurations (for a demon may not consider itself "banished" at the close of a ceremony), or even via one's psychological imbalance (such as excessive sorrow, hostility or psychosis). And having achieved a foothold in this plane, they can become insidious, formidable adversaries, wholly devoted to inflicting despair, and notoriously difficult to expunge.

One method of dispelling a demonic presence is to remove oneself from its presence, from the setting of the infestation, allowing it to simply dissipate for lack of the psychic energy which it provokes through fear and frustration, and upon which it seems to feed. Obviously, this isn't always practical, nor do demons always so easily relinquish their holds. This is when intervention and assistance is called for, either from open-minded clergy who accept the existence of such phenomena, or from experienced and competent paranormal investigators.

The investigating team will endeavor to find the source of the trouble, determine the type of haunting ('intelligent,' 'residual,' or 'inhuman'), log and analyze all available data, then decide what measures should be taken to counter the harmful influence(s). If it is judged to be a demonic agent, what must be avoided is a personal, one-on-one confrontation with these forces, which would be dangerous and most likely ineffective. Never meet the demon for a showdown on its own terms; exasperated rage serves only to strengthen them, and most seem adept at bringing out the very worst in people. Once they incite conflict within a family or group, cause panic, or drive someone to the point of exclaiming "Damn you! What do you want from us?", they then have the upper (invisible) hand.

Remaining as calm and scientific as possible in the midst of a demonic assault is unquestionably a trying discipline, but it is developed through experience, and with the essential support of fellow investigative team members. A paranormal investigator needn't be fearless, or saintly. (Hopefully not, since I fall far short of both.) However, he or she must assess his or her own strengths, as well as limitations.

A "Demon" was originally a Greek term which meant a wise, guardian spirit. In present day spiritualism and parapsychology, the word connotes an entity which appears to have a malicious and resentful nature, and is possibly of a non-human origin: differentiated from a spirit which proceeded from a once-living person.

What characteristics do these entities evince?

1. 1- They seem interested in, and often resentful (perhaps envious?) of living human beings.
2. 2- Although they have been known to inflict minor injuries on people, such as scratches, welts and even what appear to be bite marks, primarily they assault the human mind through oppressive anxiety and fear.
3. 3- They sometimes make their presence known through our senses, such as inexplicable foul odors and low gutteral growling (examples of which have been recorded during TAPS investigations as well as investigations by other paranormal research groups).

Demons may exist as a "quasi life-form," intelligent though not reasoning as do human beings, and existing outside the boundaries of our experience of linear time.

An exorcism or spiritual cleansing may provide a remedy, either temporary or hopefully permanent, against demonic infestation by making the environment hostile for the entity or entities.

Here's a topic for speculation: Obviously, not much is known for certain regarding these entities called demons other than their presence is quite inconvenient. Consider, could a human spirit become demonic, or be assimilated by the demonic entities? Are they always of non-human origin?

The existance of evil and its demonic deliverers has been pondered since the beginning of time. There are many views on the subject, as well as many people who have dedicated their lives to demonology.

Some will be mentioned throughout this essay. Their work through the centuries has been agreed upon, argued over and the validity, at times, by some, completely ignored. I suspect that this is due to the controversial nature of the subject. However, there are too many similarities to ignore. In light of this, in some instances, the information may be in conflict with information found through resources other than those I have utilized here.

Alphonsus de Spina, in 1467, published his Fortalicium Fidei (Fortress of the Faith). He became a professor at the University of Salamanca and later a bishop of the church. He was considered an authority on all things theological, including demonology. He concluded that there are ten orders of demons and that they totaled in the millions. He categorized the demons as falling into nine specific types. He also divided them into classes according to what their purposes are. Following the list of the demonic names and ranks are the explanations of the types and orders as de Spina recorded them.

Johannes Weyer (Weir), another authority in demonic studies, wrote his De Praestigiis Daemonum in the 16th century. He studied the works of such authorities as Diodorus Siculus of the 1st century, the philosopher Apaleius of the 2nd century and many other notable historians. It is noted that Weyer said that the infernal regions had 66 princes that commanded 6,666 legions and each legion being comprised of 6,666 demons or devils.

The figures here bring to mind the well recognized "number of the beast", 666. Some Cabalists believe that this is 600 (false religion), 66 (greed) and 6 (this world). Weyer felt that the names of the demons explained what their intentions and/or duties were to be. many demonics in Hebrew tradition were named after places (Astaroth) or qualities (Remmen, meaning loftiness).

The " Lesser Key of Solomon" or the " Lemegeton", plays an important role in the history, study of, summoning of and exorcising of demonics. The first part of the book, Goetia, gives the conjurations for 72 different spirits or demons. It also includes the ranks and offices of the demonic hierarchy.

The second part of the book, Theurgia Goetia, deals with the sprits at the cardinal points. The third part is called the "Pauline Art" ( reason unknown), it concerns the spirits of the hours of the days and nights of the Zodiac. The fourth part, the Almadel, deals with the " Quarternary of the Attitude", or the four other choirs of spirits inhabiting hell. The last part of the Key of Solomon is the Book of Orations and Prayers, said to have been used by King Solomon himself.

Another controversial demonologist that received much criticism on her work was the Latin American, Rita Cabezas. The criticism was not in her findings, yet in her means of attaining the information. She spent some time communicating with those residing in the Infernal regions. Her work was built, according to her, on the word of the demonic themselves. This may have been through conjuration, summonings, channeling or even séance type activities. As we are all aware, this was an extremely risky approach. Her findings were that there were the following six principalities (in spanish): Damian, Asmodeo, Menguelesh, Arios, Beelzebub and Nosferateus. Under each of these were six governors for each nation. She claimed that in Costa Rica, for example, are Shiebo, Quiebo, Ameneo, Mephistopheles, Nostrodamus and Azazel. The United States, in her findings, was territory to Ralphes, Anoritho, Manchester, Apolion, Deviltook and alas, one unnamed. The word from the mouths of demonic beings could be considered incredulous, to say the least. Please note some of the similarities in her findings. Apolion, in her findings, seems surely to be Apollyon from the research done by the great demonologists mentioned previously. Also, Asmodeo is clearly the same entity as Asmodeus. Another similar entity to Ralphes, is none other than Raphael, the very one that did banish Asmodeus to the desert. Mephistopheles, Azazel and Beelzebub are mentioned in a multitude of other literary pieces on the subject, dating back centuries.
There are a number of other names that have been documented as that of demons. Some may be cultural or regional names given to already listed entities. However, the following is included to avoid any erroneous omittances.

Demons Use Ouija Board As Gateway To Take Over Soul

Terrifying demons freed from other dimensions are preying on helpless human victims. And the gateway used by the grotesque monsters is being kept open by innocent toying with Ouija boards and other tools of the occult, top medical and religious experts caution.

"They are vile creatures of the night," warned Dr. Alberto Gonzalez, of the Pan American Institute of Health. "They exist. They can possess the bodies of their victims and cause normally gentle, nonviolent people to commit outrageous crimes. They can assume other forms some quite ghastly.

"And they are among us in many instances solely because of these sinister toys called Ouija boards." Gonzalez, a psychiatrist and parapsychologist, claims he has found demonic links to several cases of cattle mutilation and human vampirism in Central America.

Says the Rev. Morris Cerullo, president of World Evangelism and author of The Black Side Of Satan, Creation House, Carol Stream, Illinois, 1973. "Many people have related to me weird tales of answers given by the Ouija board. This and other occult games may seem intriguing, but the implications are serious and not to be tampered with. They can lead to dangerous waters indeed.

"Use of a Ouija has even led to violence and even to murder..." Dr. Marta Prohazka of Fairfax, Virginia, is also convinced that spirits can play terrifying destructive games with human behavior. During her practice as psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, she realized that many patients she had considered "hallucinating paranoid schizophrenics" might instead merely be in touch with something invisible to her but visible to them. "I came to understand that another plane, or dimension or existence interrelated with our plane or visible manifestation," she said. "By training and expanding consciousness, some individuals gain entrance into that invisible dimension. It seems to some like a window into heaven.

"I also learned that contact with the other dimension can be dangerous, especially if a psychically sensitive person loses his emotional harmony. The window into heaven can then become a window into Hell."

Millions of the plastic oracles are in use in American households, nevertheless. And the eerie messages from beyond they have spelled out have been credited or blamed for marriages, divorces, sickness, misery, mystery or murder. Psychic and medium Anne Rose told the Sun: "Horrible demons have definitely been released by the Ouija board.

"The Ouija board is a vehicle which makes it easy for negative spirits and demonic forces to enter this plane of existence." The Merrillville, Indiana clairvoyant cautioned that evil spirits or demonic forces often gain the trust of people experimenting with Ouija boards by answering several questions truthfully and providing predictions. "Once they have gained the trust of their victims, it is easy for the entity to move in and take over either by strongly influencing that person, or by outright possession," she said. People who are untrained and unsophisticated in the field of the paranormal and supernatural should never play with devices such as the Ouija board, according to the clairvoyant.

Q: Are Quija boards really dangerous?

A: The Ouija board itself is not dangerous. It is, after all, just a piece of cardboard with numbers and letters on it. The danger comes because when a person who tries to use a Ouija board to communicate with spirits he/she is opening up their free will leaving him vulnerable to possible malevolent spirit presences. Many people have been fooled by thinking they were communicating with a 'friendly' spirit. Once this so called nice spirit has a foothold, it turns on them. Demonic spirits will pretend to be someone’s deceased relative and once it has gained their trust it will start mixing in lies with the truth in order to cause confusion. Before long the demonic spirit shows its true colors and the person who has been communicating with it finds it much harder to get rid of than it was to bring in.

Q: Can a demon possess dolls and other objects?

A: No. Demons cannot possess inanimate objects such as dolls and statues, etc. but they can attach themselves to a particular object. They may attach themselves to a doll and by manipulating the doll they gain recognition from a person. Once the person gives it recognition it unleashes itself upon them.

Often times an object in a demonic infested house will become so negatively charged that just by holding one of these items it is possible to provoke the original spirit to manifest. If one of these objects is destroyed, reciprocal harm could come upon the person or family who owned it. If destroying one of these negative objects doesn't result in physical harm, the spirit may instead return to the place from which it was exorcised. These objects should be buried in sacred land, sunk to the bottom of a lake, or stored where nobody will find them.

Q: Can demons materialize as humans or animals?

A: Yes. Demons can ultimately materialize as Jesus Christ himself. However, there will always be something not quite right or missing. Maybe the eyes, arms, legs, head, etc. is missing, or it is disfigured in some way.

Q: If I am working a case and nothing is happening, should I try religious provocation?

A: NO!! If there were to be a demonic spirit present, you could unleash a terrible situation that you cannot control. Doing so puts everyone in danger. Only someone experienced should attempt provocation and that is done only in the worst cases. I only use religious provocation when I need proof so that a clergy member can perform an exorcism. Also, when you attempt provocation, if a demonic spirit is present it doesn't have to show itself to you right then and there. It might be two weeks later when you are at home nice and comfortable in your own bed when the demonic spirit decides to pay you a visit. It is extremely dangerous!

Q: What does deliverance mean?

A: Deliverance is the process of eliminating spirits or demons from a place or person by casting them out and binding them in the name of Jesus Christ. If a person is severely possessed, exorcism will be needed as opposed to deliverance.

FALLEN ANGELS

When I first set out to write this article, I wanted to address preternatural (demonic) activity and possession. However, I thought it best to start at the beginning and to look at what a demon really is and how they came to be on our earthly realm.

"For by Him were all things were created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominations, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him." (Colossians 1:16)

If all things were created by God, than God created demons, but these beings, because of pride did not return God's love. "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him." (Revelation 12:7-9) God did not destroy these 'fallen angels' but instead allows them a limited scope of activity.

Now I suppose I could get into the many different 'species' of demons, but I really don't see the point. I know if I was being attacked by the demonic I could really care less what species it is or what name it goes by. Instead, I will concentrate on what demons really are. We know they are fallen angels but are they just emanations, or influences, or powers? Or are demons a personality? Let us take a look at the attributes required for something to be considered a personality.

1: Intelligence

The word 'demon' comes from the Greek word 'daimon' which means intelligent. Demons are intelligent beings. They have the ability to communicate by speech. They know that God is One. "And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And He rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that He was Christ." (Luke 4:41) Demons also know their future doom. "And when He was come to the other side into the country of the Ger'ge-senes, there met Him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?" (Matthew 8:28-29)

2 WILL

Demons do have will. They have the will to make requests. They have the will to obey commands and orders. They have the will to leave a person they inhabit and seek a new place to live or to return to the place where they came from.

3 EMOTION

Demons do have emotion and we can observe this in a couple of ways. They have the emotion of anger and fierceness and they have the emotion of fear.

Since demons do possess these three attributes I think it is safe to say that they are a personality. That is to say that they have distinctive character and individuality.

APPEARANCE

Now let's talk about the appearance of the demonic. Has anyone ever seen a demon in its natural form? If so, what does it look like? When I polled my family and friends for their impression of what a demon might look like, their responses were virtually identical. A monster with horns protruding from its head and a forked tail, residing in some fiery abyss.

"And the shape of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails." (Revelation 9:7-10)

Visions of the demonic, however, are almost a complete rarity. Instead they lash out in total invisibility, at least at first. They gain the upper hand and frighten by lashing out undetected. It relies on this anonymity to conceal its identity and by causing disbelief and confusion it operates at its full strength.

In cases where the demonic does reveal itself, it is most often seen as a dark black, wispy shape. These black shapes have been described as being blacker than the blackest night.

Ultimately, the demonic can take on any form that it chooses. Whether it be as a human, a ghost, or even an animal. Whatever it chooses to manifest itself as, there is always a flaw.

Always. There will always be something unnatural about its appearance.

So we have covered what demons are, what characteristics they have, where they originated ,and the appearance they take on. I pray to God that none of you ever have to come in contact with one of these inhuman spirits, but if you ever find yourself in that situation, "Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked when it cometh. Demons are one of the known inhuman entities out there. Fortunately, they are a rare occurrence.

They are usually very easy to identify as long as they are not hiding. When it is a demonic haunting you typically notice a revolting stench similar to rotted flesh or sulfuric acid. They often let loose a growl that sounds like it is coming from everywhere at once. They like to make contact by pushing, shoving, hitting, and even scratching. The whole air in the affected area will feel thick like fog and the temperature will drastically change, typically becoming warmer.

These creatures are very strong, unlike human spirits, and they don't mind showing it. There have been cases where people have been thrown through the air and even attacked. Apparently, their main goal is to break down a person's free will in order to make way for possession. This can take days, months or years, but time is of no concern to them.

They have a hatred for mankind that dates back to the days of God and Lucifer. They have lived for millennia and will be here long after we are gone. So, you must understand that though you may be able to get these creatures to leave a dwelling with religious provocation you will never destroy them. They could go to the next place down the road if they choose, most likely they won't because distance is not a problem for these creatures. They could go from Maine to California on a thought.

They can take on any form they wish, but mostly commonly it is a half man, half animal form. They will have the head of an animal, the torso of a man, and the hairy legs of an animal. When they are approached by an investigating paranormal team they may feel threatened and appear in a human form to keep the home from being blessed and stop the use of religious provocation.

During an investigation you need assess the situation more by what happened before you arrived than what is actually going on during the time you are there. Demons are capable of changing form right in front of you from a human form to an inhuman form. They neither male nor female, but then can change that to meet their needs. People mostly see demons as black masses standing in doorways or near rooms. Sometimes they are called shadow devils.

If you feel like you have a demon in your home I would recommend getting help from a well known paranormal group as quickly as possible. Time is of the essence when dealing with these creatures.

--the Hebrew name for the Greek Apollyon, "angel of the bottomless pit," as in Revelation 9:10; and the angel (or star) that binds Satan for 1,000 years, as in Revelation 20. The Thanksgiving Hymns (a copy of which turned up among the recently discovered Dead Sea scrolls) speaks of "the Sheol of Abaddon" and of the "torrents of Belial [that] bust into Abaddon." The 1st-century apocryphon The Biblical Antiquities of Philo speaks of Abaddon as a place (sheol, hell), not as a spirit or demon or angel. In Paradise Regained (IV, 624) Milton like-wise employs Abaddon as the name of a place, i.e., the pit.

As far as is known, it was St. John, who first personified the term to stand for an angel. In the 3rd-century Acts of Thomas, Abaddon is the name of a demon, or of the devil himself--which is how Bunyan regards him in Pilgrim's Progress. According to Mathers, The Greater Key of Solomon, Abaddon is a name for God that Moses invoked to bring down the blighting rain over Egypt.

The cabalist Joseph ben Abraham Gikatilla denominates Abaddon as the 6th lodge of the 7 lodges of Hell (arka), under the presidency of the angel Pasiel(q.v.). Klopstock in The Messiah calls Abaddon, "death's dark angel." A reference to Abaddon's "hooked wings" occurs in Francis Thompson's poem "To the English Martyrs." [See Apollyon.]

Abaddon has also been identified as the angel of death and destruction, demon of the abyss, and chief of demons of the underworld hierarchy, where he is equated with Samael or Satan. [R.f De Plancy, Dictionaire Infernal; Grillot, A Pictorial Anthology of Witchcraft, Magic and Alchemy, p. 128]

In the latter work, Abaddon is the "Destroying Angel of the Apocalypse." In Barrett, The Magus, Abaddon is pictured, in color, as one of the "evil demons."
